Proper 4X4 capability. It's what the Grenadier exists for. And explains our approach to building it. Best-in-class engine. Ladder-frame chassis. Permanent four-wheel-drive. Three locking differentials. Solid beam axles. We’ve learnt from the best of the past. Partnered with the suppliers that got the brief. And created an ultimate 4X4 designed for the 21st Century. Durable, capable, reliable, and built to go the distance.

BMW Engines

The award-winning straight-six, 3.0L BMW engine is a proven powertrain, enhanced for the Grenadier to deliver peak torque at low revs and sustain it through the range. So you can maintain momentum and grip without stressing the engine. Ensuring full control when tackling tricky terrain. The refined and powerful turbo gasoline engine produces 282 BHP and 332 lb-ft torque.

Ladder Frame

Rigid, strong, simple and stable. The foundations of the Grenadier come from its full box-sectioned ladder-frame chassis. The only choice for a 4X4 designed for reliable off-road performance. With a steel section up to 3.5mm, plus maximum corrosion protection thanks to a full E-coat treatment, cavity wax inside and powder coat outside. All backed by our class-leading 12-year, anti-perforation warranty.

Beam Axles

Heavy-duty beam axles are essential for tackling extreme off-road terrain. By channelling power from the prop-shafts via a 4.1:1 differential ratio to the wheels, they ensure maximum traction on any surface. They’re strong, straightforward, and built to last. Developed in partnership with Carraro – experts with over 50 years' experience making heavy-duty tractor axles for the likes of John Deere and Claas.

Triple Diff Locks

The Grenadier comes with a three locking diff set up. Centre differential lock as standard, plus two optional diff locks, front and rear, with 100% mechanical engagement. Guaranteed to keep you moving even when only one wheel can develop traction, the front and rear diff locks can be independently toggled from the Overhead Control Panel. They automatically disengage at 75km/h to protect the drivetrain. Manufactured by Eaton Industries, the front and rear diff locks are standard on the Trialmaster edition, and optional on all others.

Coil Springs

Low-maintenance coil springs are an essential part of a proper 4X4 set up. The Grenadier’s are made by suspension specialists, Eibach, offering superior flex, 9 degrees of front axle articulation, 12 degrees at the rear. Enabling over 585mm of travel to maintain grip and make light work of driving over extreme uneven ground.

Off-Road Geometry

The Grenadier is designed to get the job done off-road. A wheel at each corner ensures short overhangs front and rear. Ladder frame chassis for excellent ground clearance. High engine air intake and waterproofed electronics for confident wading.
